Save Frigidaire PureSource2 Ice/Water Filtration System


I purchased one of these filters from a local big box store. No matter how long I ran it, it never cleared the charcoal dust. The instructions say this dust is normal and will clear after you run the water for for 10 minutes. While I ran it a lot longer then that and did so repeatedly over the next few weeks. After about a month, I decided I had gotten a defective unit so I got another one, this time ordered here on line. Same problem! I've owned this refrigerator for almost 4 years and have changed this same filter 7 times already and never had this problem before. Since I've apparently gotten two defectives in a row from two totally different sources, I can only surmise that there is a bad batch somewhere from the factory that went out to all the distributors. I'm now considering buying one of the bypass units available as replacements for these filters. My tap water is fine. The refrigerator with this filter came with the house. Not sure why the previous owners thought the water needed extra filtering. I just want water and ice without all the little black dust specs from the charcoal!!!
